After receiving feedback for my blog post about the album cover for Foals Antidote, I was advised to look at Egon Schiele, an austrian painter associated strongly with Gustav Klimt an artist I know much more about than Schiele.
Schiele's work is very interesting as it has the essence of a caricature, in that it makes recognisable features very noticeable. I think we could use this idea for our digipak as Jacques is a solo artist and is therefore recognisable, so using his portrait will allow the artists target audience to recognise the cover.
I think the use of a blank background allows the portrait to stand out even further, whilst allowing the neutral tones to fit the genre we would like our album cover to fit into.
